About me

Brunilda Castejón

My approach to the Feldenkrais® Method
I have been practising the Feldenkrais® Method for years and came to it through contemporary dance. I had an accident and a radical change in my life which put me in hospital where I had surgery for two discs and lost the sciatic nerve in my left leg and had to learn to walk. After frequent visits to the physiotherapist and craniotherapy, which told me only on the third visit, that my body was reacting very well and that I had to do something else.

I thought of Feldenkrais®, the result was so surprising that I decided to study the method and became the object of my study. It is an empirical study and as such has to be practised. I found it such an intelligent tool that I decided to share it and that is why I teach ATM and do FI.

Even if you have a lot of information in your head, study is not enough. It is enriched by experience. Each person is different and that is the challenge.

My creative journey
began with studies in dance and acting, followed by an exploration of visual arts and active participation in numerous performances. Between 1992 and 1996, I lived in Catalonia, where I taught African dance in Barcelona and managed my own dance studio in Cadaqués. In 1992, I also began practicing Tai Chi, transitioning to a focus on the Chen style in 2006. Over the years, I’ve trained with renowned Chen masters such as Chen Xiaowang, Chen Bing, Master Chen Yingjun, Paris Lainas, José Luis Flores, and Jarek Jodzis, participating in international workshops to deepen my expertise.

Since 2012, Vienna has been my home, and TanzQuartier became my creative and professional hub. The accident that led me to Feldenkrais® not only transformed my recovery but also inspired my teaching philosophy, centered on the concept of moving “from horizontal to vertical and beyond.” Today, I share this approach with all who are curious to discover new possibilities for movement and self-awareness.
